My Digital Awakening: Quarter 1 Reflection

 A.

The first quarter of this course has been an eye-opening journey into the world of the internet. I've learned about its fascinating istory, from its humble beginnings as a military project to its current status as a ubiquitous force in our lives. I've discovered the contributions of pioneering individuals like Tim Berners-Lee, who laid the foundation for the World Wide Web, and Filipinos like Ramon del Rosario, who played a pivotal role in bringing the internet to the Philippines. I've also gained a deeper understanding of the various types of data that exist online, the different ways we can access the internet, and the importance of responsible online behavior.

 B.

One of the biggest challenges I faced was navigating the vastness of the internet and finding reliable information. The sheer volume of data available can be overwhelming, and it's easy to get lost in a sea of misinformation. I learned to be critical of sources, to verify information from multiple sources, and to use search engines effectively to find what I need.

 C.

To address these challenges, I adopted a systematic approach to my research. I started by defining my search terms carefully, using relevant keywords and phrases. I then explored multiple sources, including reputable news websites, academic journals, and government websites. I also learned to use advanced search operators to refine my searches and find more specific information.

 D.

Moving forward, I want to continue expanding my knowledge of the internet and its impact on society.  I aim to research more especially the data protection and privacy ethics, the impact of social networks in enhancing or deterring issues and finally the transformative aspects of the internet on creativity and innovation. I believe that connecting people and sharing information through the internet can result in all good things - and I would like to be part of the development process that is both constructive and ethical of the web.
